Job Description
Cabinets for Living is a custom cabinet manufacturer based in Houston, producing residential and commercial casework using European frameless construction. Our production capacity exceeds our current volume of work and will for the next two years — the constraint on growth is sales, not production. This position exists to remove that constraint: the foundational hire for outbound business development, reporting directly to ownership. The scope is broad by design — this is the first sales hire, responsible for building the function from the ground up, including, as volume grows, the framework for scaling it and the hires that come after you.
The target market is residential builders and commercial general contractors — based out of Houston, with the mandate to expand beyond it as the business grows. There are no existing accounts, leads, or pipeline to inherit, and no estimating or quoting function yet: you will build that process in partnership with production leadership, alongside your own pipeline. Resources — marketing spend, travel, and additional sales headcount as volume grows — will scale alongside demonstrated impact. Compensation and participation structure beyond the base terms below is flexible, both at hire and over time, and will evolve based on the business impact you deliver.
What You'll Do
- Define and own the go-to-market strategy for this new B2B sales function — residential custom home builders and commercial general contractors — including how you prioritize and sequence outreach, starting in Houston with the mandate to grow into new markets as the business scales.
- Build a pipeline from zero — no purchased leads, no existing accounts.
- Manage your pipeline end-to-end: prospecting, first meetings, quote development, closing, and account growth.
- Report on pipeline health and bring market and customer intelligence back into the business.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of B2B sales experience with quantifiable, verifiable performance history, including a demonstrated history of building a territory or book of business largely from scratch, not inheriting or maintaining an existing one.
- Experience selling into the residential construction or building trade — cabinets, countertops, windows, flooring, hardware, millwork, or a closely adjacent category.
- A demonstrated ability to generate leads and close new business independently, without relying on inbound leads or a purchased list.
- Working knowledge of how the cabinet and casework business operates — specifications, lead times, the builder sales cycle, and how estimating and production interact.
- At this experience level, an established network among Houston-area builders or general contractors is expected, not just preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary plus commission, structured to be competitive, weighted toward performance, and reflecting senior-level sales experience. 401(k) contribution, health insurance, and PTO are available. Exact structure is determined individually based on experience and what the candidate brings to the role, and is covered directly in our first conversation.
